Red-Colored Darkness

August 7, 2018

Hardened eyes
Grab inside
At the tears dripping
From an angry grasp
On my heart muscle.

Red-colored darkness
Licks the crook of my left arm
– A needle pricking.

Outside cool air preens
My ruffled healing
And still the hidden fire burns
Through my limping veins.

Green trees rustle
Sharing their oxygen.
-I breathe an emerald tonic.

But white clouds turn gray
And the splattered rain shivers
My cold pale body.

Long I wait
For a dark sky to cover me
In a black shroud of ceasing
-Swallowing the light.
